5 Signs Your Tradie Website Is Costing You Enquiries

A website doesn’t have to be broken to be losing you work. It just has to make someone hesitate for a few extra seconds.

Most tradie websites aren’t badly built — they’re just unfinished in ways that are easy to miss from the inside. Here are the five most common ones we see, roughly in order of how much they cost you.

1. There's no service area stated clearly

Someone comparing quotes wants to know fast whether you actually cover their suburb, before they read anything else. If that information is buried in an About page paragraph instead of stated up front, some visitors will bounce to a competitor whose site answers the question immediately.

2. The phone number takes more than one tap

If someone has to scroll to a contact page, find a number, then manually copy it into their phone, you’ve lost some percentage of people who would have called on the spot. Click-to-call needs to be visible in the first screen someone sees, not buried three clicks deep.

3. There's no real photography of the work

Stock photos of generic tools or a smiling model in a hard hat are an instant tell that the site — and by association, the business — isn’t being taken seriously. Real photos of real jobs, even a modest phone photo of a finished job, do more to build trust than any amount of polished stock imagery.

4. The site is slow on mobile

Most people looking for a tradie are searching on their phone, often standing in the room or yard with the problem. A site that takes several seconds to load, or that isn’t properly readable without pinching and zooming, loses people who are already primed to call — they just move to the next search result instead.

5. It doesn't say what you actually do

“Quality service you can trust” tells a visitor nothing. A specific, plain list of services — the actual jobs you take on — lets someone confirm in seconds that you do what they need, instead of leaving them to guess and call someone whose site was clearer.

The pattern behind all five

Every one of these is really the same underlying problem: making a busy, often stressed visitor do extra work to get a simple answer. Fix that, and the rest tends to follow. It’s the exact thinking behind how we approach every tradie website we build.
