What Should a Cafe Website Actually Include?

Hospitality · Fusco Studio

Most people visiting a cafe website just need to know one thing: are you open right now. Everything else is secondary.

A cafe website has a much smaller job than a hotel or restaurant site, and treating it like a smaller version of the same thing usually makes it worse, not better. Here’s what a cafe site genuinely needs.

The essentials

  • Current opening hours, front and centre. This is the single most-checked piece of information on any cafe site — it needs to be visible without scrolling, and it needs to actually be correct.
  • Where you are, clearly. A map, an address, and ideally a note on parking or the nearest transport — especially if you’re slightly off the main strip.
  • A simple, current menu. Coffee, food, prices if you’re comfortable showing them — readable on a phone without pinching and zooming.
  • A few honest photos of the space. Not styled flat-lays copied from a stock library — the actual counter, the actual seating, the actual feel of walking in.

What's genuinely optional

A blog, an online store, a loyalty app integration, elaborate animation — these can be worth adding once a cafe has an established following that wants more, but they’re not what makes someone walk through the door for the first time. A cafe with a fast, clear, four-piece site (hours, location, menu, feel) usually outperforms one with twelve pages nobody needed.

Why it still needs to be a real website

It’s tempting to think a cafe can get by entirely on Instagram and a Google Business listing, and for some, that’s genuinely enough. The gap shows up with anyone searching rather than already following you — someone new to the area, or deciding between two nearby options. A simple, fast website is what that person lands on, and it’s worth it being good rather than an afterthought.

This is exactly the brief behind every cafe website we build — small, fast, and built around the handful of things that actually matter.
